ANNOUNCEMENT
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RETHINKING DEVELOPMENT STUDIES IN AFRICA IN COLLABORATION WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF MAASTRICHT, THE VRIJE UNIVERSITY AND MAASTRICHT SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT AT SASAKAWA CENTRE, UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST ON 3RD – 6TH NOVEMBER, 2008
The opening ceremony was attended by the cream of academia. Speakers included the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Yakubu, the Registrar, Mr. Samuel Ohene, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Mansa Prah. The Chairman for the accession was Prof. Kwarteng, Chairman of the IDS Advisory Board and Prof. Michael Robertson, NPT Project Manager. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. J.V. Mensah, Director of the Institute of Development Studies. The former Director of the IDS, Prof. S.B. Kendie, now on sabbatical, gave an overview of the conference.
The opening ceremony was followed by presentations which were then discussed in open forum.
Nineteen (19) presentations were made.
An exhibition of recent publications in development studies ran alongside the three day conference.
